Not very long ago, Kangana Ranaut had taken the internet by storm after she unveiled her first look as Jayalalithaa and it impressed one and all. The biopic, which has been titled Thalaivi, chronicles the life of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, who was fondly known as Amma, and Kangana seemed to have done full justice to her character. Now, on the occasion of MG Ramachandran's (MGR) birth anniversary today, the makers of Thalaivi have disclosed the first look and teaser of south superstar Arvind Swami as MGR.

The first look posters see Arvind sporting a clean-shaven look, which belonged to MGR between 1965 and 1970s. Right from the attire and body language to his appearance and demeanour; Arvind Swami has managed to get into the skin of his character of MG Ramachandran (MGR), also known as Makkal Thilagam. As for the teaser, Arvind Swami has depicted MGR’s acting phase in short video and we are mighty impressed. “With a lot of love and respect, here is my first look Teaser of Puratchi Thalaivar MGR. #Thalaivi,” is how Arvind unveiled the teaser. (ALSO READ - Thalaivi: Kangana Ranaut Pays Special Tribute To The Iron Lady Jayalalithaa On Her Death Anniversary)

Thalavi’s director Vijay had opened up on Arvind’s portrayal of MGR in the film. He was quoted as saying, “Amma had mentioned in an interview that the two most important people in her life were her mother and MGR. We’ve ensured that we do everything possible to get MGR’s portrayal right on the screen. Arvind Swami has transformed himself completely to fit into the role. He started prepping for this role some three months before we actually began shooting.”

Thalaivi is slated to hit the big screens on June 26, 2020.
